What's New In Print!

Hi!

Welcome back to WNIP!

“Hello?  Bringe?  I’m looking for a piece of sheet music and I don’t know how to find it!  Can you help me?”  I get this question posed to me every day. Then, when the elusive music piece has been found, I hear “You saved me,” or “How did you do that—I’ve looked everywhere!” or “So and so said it wasn’t in print any more,” and on and on.  I’ve been hearing these responses for the last 25 years and it does feel very good to be able to help someone find what they’re looking for.

I suppose that’s why it surprises me that more and more people are shopping for print music on line.  Of course I recognize that there’s a certain amount of convenience that’s involved with staying at home in your favorite chair in front of the computer monitor but … there’s simply nothing like visiting your local music store!  It’s much more than hands on a keyboard and a couple of clicks here and there.  Browsing through the sheet music and books, feeling the paper, smelling the ink, finding music you haven’t thought about for years …  Being able to actually view all the music and decide if it’s the right level for you, a challenge, an easy, fun piece, or something in between.  And … what about the amazing ambience created by being AROUND other like-minded people … musicians!  Don’t get me wrong … I think on-line access is a great tool for all of us with lots of things but let’s not forget that making music is “connectional.”   When you’re looking through music, someone may be at the counter buying a metronome while someone else may be auditioning a guitar!  You may even be lucky enough to hear a wonderful vocalist testing out a new microphone.  All that musical energy is whirling around and every person in the store is feeling the fabulous “vibe” being created and passed along to each one in the place!  Who knows?  You might meet folks who share the same musical sensibilities that you do and you end up creating music together! (Like in the old days … OK, the 80’s but who’s counting) So why not put some clothes on, log out, and get out of that computer comfort zone — make a visit to your local music store and SHARE your own special musical vibe with us!  Come see me in MY comfort zone — I’m looking forward to sharing my vibe with YOU!

Thanks for visiting,

Debbie
