Clifford Dana

Stringed Instrument  Repair

Text Box: Cliff has lived in Pinellas County for 37 years, moving here as a boy from his native
Lake Ronkonkoma, NY in 1967. He attended Pinellas County schools, graduating from Lakewood High School. He comes from a long line of musically talented people. His great grandfather, who was born in Germany and relocated to Italy after WWII, was a violinist and moonlighted as a luthier. His grandfather was born in Italy and came to the US in 1920 and was mainly a wood carver/cabinet maker and also moonlighted as a luthier. When he’s not repairing cars or instruments, Cliff likes to spend time close to nature: he has an intense love for the Florida Wetlands along with a sadness in witnessing their slow destruction. He dabbles in amateur photography and has held an amateur radio operators ticket (extra class) for over 20 years. Cliff’s mission and passion is to keep as many of the “old ones” (instruments) around as possible and put them in the hands of people who will cherish them an pass them on to the next “caretaker” when the time comes.
