Bryan Macke
Piano, Cello, Keyboard, Violin

Bryan Macke is a native of Indiana.  He began his musical studies there on viola at the age of 10.  He added violin, piano, and cello as a teenager.  He studied music at Indiana State University where he also received his Masters in Education.  He has been teaching privately for over 20 years.  He has played with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, The Terre Haute Sinfonietta, and the Indianapolis Philharmonic.  He currently plays with the Suncoast Symphony Orchestra and the Pinellas Park Community Orchestra.  He also plays in two chamber groups and freelances as a soloist.  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time at the beach, attending live music events, and spending time with family and friends.

Karen Harding
Bassoon, Cello

Karen has her B.S. in Psychology from Springfield College and has played and taught music for a number of years.  She began on the flute in elementary school and played clarinet and bass clarinet in band through high school.  She took a hiatus of several years following college but resumed playing in small group settings, including a 3-piece off-Broadway pit band, a 300 member marching band, various wind ensembles, community, pit, and dance bands.  After moving to Gulfport in 2001, she studied bassoon with Mark Sforzini and continues to study cello and piano with Christine Hartley.  She played the bassoon with the Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra from 2009 until switching to the cello in 2014.  She currently plays with the Suncoast Symphony in Clearwater on the upright bass, the Musical Chairs String Ensemble on cello, and since 2002 with the "Nostalgics," a 9-piece local Dixie-type combo on electric bass.  Most recently, she's added the New Horizons Band of Gulfport on the bass clarinet.

Kathryn Parker

We are very proud to have Katie as part of our teaching staff. A product of the Bringe School of Music, she spent 8 years under the tutelage of our own Christine Hartley! Katie has now been teaching privately for 5 years and is very excited about her new position with the Bringe School of Music. Currently, Katie is working on her AA in Music at St. Petersburg College with plans to earn a degree in Music Education from either USF or FSU. Locally, Katie is a freelance violinst and a member of the University of Tampa Orchestra's violin section. When not teaching or performing, Katie is an avid reader and is also teaching herself to play the guitar!

Rebecca Zapen Douglass
Suzuki Violin

Rebecca Zapen Douglass is a third-generation musician in a family tree including orchestral and jazz perfromers on violin, piano, double bass, guitar, and accordion. While her musical foundation was strictly classical -- beginning at age 3 with the Suzuki Violin method and continuing on through her graduation from the School of Music at Florida State University -- Rebecca developed into a versatile musician, performing as a classical and jazz violinist, jazz singer, folk songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist playing guitar and ukulele. She holds degrees in biology and music from FSU, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. She has performed extensively in Florida and has toured the US playing such venues as The Bitter End in New York City, Genghis Cohen in Los Angeles, and Katerina's in Chicago. She's performed abroad in Switzerland, France, and Italy. Originally from Jacksonville, Rebecca came to St. Petersburg in 2008 and joined the teaching staff at the Bringe School of Music in 2009. She is married to pianist and recording engineer Jeremy Douglass, who is also part of our School of Music instructor staff. They have a young son, Joel, who already loves percussion and singing. In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys spending family time outdoors at the park and the zoo.
