Del Coy
Piano, Voice

Del began his love of music at an early age, singing at 15 months old, and has continued to nurture that love of music his entire life.  He studied voice, vocal arranging, live sound reinforcement and studio recording techniques in the Commercial Music program at Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, VA.  While at Shenandoah, he had the privilege of singing under the direction of Grammy Award winner, Robert Shafer.  He had the distinct honor of performing with the Washington Oratorio Society which performed the Verdi Requiem, Belshazzar's Feast and Poulenc's Gloria with the National Symphony Orchestra and soloists from Metropolitan Opera at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.  He also studied voice and was a vocal arranger for the jazz ensemble at Carnegie Mellon University.  Del has over 20 years of professional and semi-professional experience in a cappella performance and arranging.  His career has taken him all over the country, including performing at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Florida.  He toured with the national touring a cappella group Four Shado, and had performed with the a cappella vocal group, Blue Jupiter.  He also performed with the vocal group, Metro, on board Celebrity Curises in the Caribbean.  In addition to his a cappella vocal expertise, Del is also highly skilled at beatbox/vocal percussion, scat singing and vocal instrument imitation.  Del has served as a Competition Judge in both the high school and collegiate levels (ICCA, ICHSA), and has coordinated and led workshops in improvisation, sight reading, and arranging for high school a cappella competitors.  As an editorial staff writer for the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America, Del has also contributed special features and artist promotions for CASA's on line magazine.
